Requesting Formal Appearance by a Regent
One of the ways Regents serve the University is through representing the Board at a wide variety of events. Regents confer degrees at commencement, make remarks, present awards and honors, and participate in groundbreakings or building dedications.

To request a Regent for your event, please complete the Regent Appearance Request Form. This form allows you to request a specific Regent, or have one selected for you.

The Board Office follows up on all requests to confirm whether a Regent will be able to participate. The Board Office also coordinates event details on behalf of the Regent, including the preparation of remarks or presentations.

Inviting the Board to an Event
The Board of Regents is invited to dozens of events every year across the University’s five campuses. To invite the Board to a University event, we strongly recommend routing your invitations through the Board Office for distribution to the Regents.

Routing your invitations through the Board Office ensures that all Regents are aware of the opportunity to attend your event, and allows us to assist the host department in coordinating Regent attendance. The Board Office can answer any questions you might have about event protocol, and will coordinate RSVPs on your behalf.

Please address printed invitations to “The Honorable First Name Last Name.” It is standard practice to copy Brian Steeves, Executive Director and Corporate Secretary, on all invitations. For event nametags, please use the following format: Regent First Name Last Name.
